Boringdon Hall Hotel & Gaia Spa located in Plymouth, Devon, wins Hotel Spa of the Year at the World Spa & Wellness Awards 2019 that celebrate the best in the global spa business.
Gaia Spa was chosen after an extensive application process that included a mystery shopper visiting every shortlisted spa and resort to score the properties based on different criteria. The judges commented that Gaia Spa at Boringdon Hall "excelled at bringing the hotel and spa experience together."
This year – the biggest awards yet – saw winners named across 11 categories, recognising all aspects of the spa and wellness industry. Eve Oxberry, head of editorial for Professional Beauty and World Spa and Wellness, welcomed guests, saying: “In our increasingly tech-focused world, there's never been a greater need for healing touch and a sense of community, and that's what every finalist at these awards delivers expertly.” Laura Cameron, operations director at Boringdon Hall said: “We are over the moon to have won this prestigious award and so proud of our whole team from reservations to the kitchen team, bar, restaurant, maintenance, valet, therapists – the whole team play a huge part in making the spa a success and bringing the spa and hotel experience together seamlessly”.
Boringdon Hall Hotel is a five-star, three AA rosette hotel with 42 rooms, set within eight acres, on the edge of Dartmoor. Gaia Spa at Boringdon Hall was built in 2016 featuring 12 treatment rooms and a Patisserie restaurant. It offers a range of treatments and facilities where guests can relax from the stresses of daily life and nurture their wellbeing. Facilities include an infinity pool, hydrotherapy pool with an outdoor swim through, heat experiences including a Finnish sauna, a crystal salt steam room, Laconium herbal sauna, and shower experiences. There's also a state-of-the-art gym, deep relaxation room, beauty salon, and outdoor areas for yoga and meditation as well as an outdoor spa terrace.
Since opening, the spa has been named the Sunday Times Top Spa Hotel in the UK (2016) and Condé Nast Johansen's Best Destination Spa in the UK & Ireland (2018).
