Barny Lee Marquees expert advises on post-COVID19 weddings

Managing director Barny Lee has a wealth of experience in the wedding and event industry so we caught up with him to see what impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the company and how they are determined to help and support their clients as much as they can.

How has COVID-19 affected weddings and other large events in 2020?

COVID-19 is affecting everyone involved in the event industry as mass gatherings have been prohibited and social distancing rules need to be adhered to. At Barny Lee Marquees we are working closely with our clients and suppliers to find a solution for those affected by these measures.

As a marquee and events company, how are you helping your customers?

It's incredibly hard for engaged couples not being able to celebrate their marriage on the dates they have chosen. We are staying in touch by phone and email to allow them to postpone their wedding marquees and equipment hire to later in the year, or to help them then secure a suitable date for 2021 -  the diary for next year is certainly looking busy!

What's the best advice you can give to someone wanting to plan an event or wedding after the lockdown?

We are encouraging clients that have postponed their date or enquiries that have not yet booked to confirm a date as soon as possible. We do have a lot of marquee and event equipment, but as our clients are rescheduling their bookings for autumn 2020 or spring 2021, the diary is starting to fill up. Site visits can now take place with social distancing measures in place, however any images or video footage of a site can be useful when helping to put quotations together and we can also use conference calling if required to come up with the right solution.
