Enjoy a Christmas Street Market in Newquay this Sunday 22nd December from midday until 9 pm. It's set to be a spectacular day filled with community spirit, festive cheer and local treasures for last-minute gifting. There'll also be seasonal eats and treats, fresh produce for festive feasting, a bar stocked full of local tipples, a full programme of live music and loads of family-friendly fun all while helping to raise some money for the local Newquay Boardriders group. This year the Christmas Street Market is hosted by BIG Newquay Market co-organisers Cornwall Shop Small and Newquay Farmers Market with market infrastructure supplied by Newquay BID . Sarah Curley from Cornwall Shop Small said, "We’re using our collective power to put on an unmissable street market and one of your last chances to shop small and local this Christmas. Featuring an array of locally created and curated wares perfect for Christmas gifting. Expect colourful prints, locally made ceramics as well as seasonal fashion and accessories with sustainability at heart. Caroline Hinks of Newquay Farmers Market adds; 'It's a real pleasure to be involved in such a community-focused event. You'll be able to stock up on fresh fish and shellfish, locally raised meat, seasonal veg, cheeses and more to bring the freshest festive food to your tables this Christmas." Rebecca Williams of Milk Cafe reminds us that community spirit is at the heart of this event. She says, "We wanted to create festive feels for all the locals to get involved in and to help support a local community project or charity. Last year we raised funds for Newquay Food Bank, and this year we're proud to be supporting Newquay Boardriders raising funds to help them attend the World Club Challenge out at Snapper, Australia! We can't wait to welcome you to a magical Miracle on Fore Street. Join us for a festive celebration that captures the true spirit of Christmas!"
Rebecca Williams of the Milk Cafe says: "Last year, myself and Simon Thompson from Fore Street Cafe, created this event to bring the community Christmas spirit to Fore Street. We aimed to put Newquay on the map for places to visit at Christmas and celebrate the wonderful place that Fore Street is. It was a great success and this year Miracle on Fore Street is back bigger and better with support from our event partners. The more glitter and tinsel the better."
Newquay BID / LOVE Newquay have supported the event helping with the costs and infrastructure. Mark Warren says; "It's a pleasure to be involved in this event for the second year and wonderful to see so many of the resident businesses hosting free activities as part of the event programme to benefit from the footfall these sort of events can drive. Our future ambition is to create a calendar of events in several locations through December creating more footfall into our amazing town and businesses. There'll be a kids disco at The Fort Inn, meet Santa and kids Christmas crafts at Belushi's, Newquay Rowing Club Singers popping up at Milk Cafe, a drop-in festive printmaking workshop at Box & Barber, a flower demo at Coastal Flowers and storytelling at the Fore Street Cafe to name a few."
Alongside the market. visitors will be able to enjoy local seasonal streetfood, a festive bar and in-business menu specials while enjoying a full programme of live music featuring local favourites like The Clams, Joe Hurworth, Steve Panter, C Bird Singers, Soulful House Choir and much more.
