Wickhams showcases sustainability at Toby’s Garden Festival

Toby Buckland and Dan Farrell-Wright of Wickhams

Toby's Garden Festival is rapidly approaching, taking place in the grounds of Powderham Castle in Devon on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th of April. During the two days, festival sponsor Wickhams will be showcasing sustainability within the wine world, offering free wine tastings with a chance to try and buy a range of wine from vineyards in Devon, England and beyond.

Dan Farrell-Wright, the founder of Wickhams, says: "We're looking forward to bringing an exciting array of wines from here in the county, as well as wines produced in other parts of the country and internationally, to this popular festival. We have carefully selected producers which focus on growing the grapes and producing their wines in a highly sustainable way. In her talk, Pip will also be pairing the wines with charcuterie, cake and local cheese from Sharpham Dairy and Quicke's."

Dan continues: "It's a brilliant couple of days for everyone who has a strong interest in gardening, food and drink and we're delighted to be sponsoring the festival this year."

Wickhams is an award-winning online wine and spirits merchant who source the finest wines from around the world. They passionately believe in stocking wines, spirits and gift sets at a range of price points to ensure their products are accessible to all and regularly host tastings both in person and online to share their knowledge and enthusiasm with the public. Wickhams place a special focus on finding producers who prioritise strong ethics and sustainability in their practices so are delighted to be championing that further at this event.

Now in its 9th year, Toby's Garden Festival, hosted by BBC gardener Toby Buckland, is an unmissable two days for gardeners and foodies, with over 160 exhibitors, including award-winning Chelsea Flower Show plant nurseries, plus art and craft, garden furniture, outdoor kitchens and buildings.

Alongside the Wickhams wine tastings, new for 2023 is the Food Drink Devon Market showcasing local producers, with talks and tastings on wine, cider, cheese and more, hosted by The Daily Telegraph's wine guru, Susy Atkins, and food writer Mark Diacono of Otter Farm. BBC Gardener's World garden designer, Joe Swift will be sharing his tips on getting the most from your garden in the Speaker's Marquee. It's one of three talks programs, where you can hear talks and demos on a range of topics, including flower farming, keeping chickens, planting a wildflower meadow and growing organic fruit and veggies. Head to Feast Street to grab a bite from one of 15 curated local street food producers and enjoy lunch sitting in the sunshine by the Castle Lake while listening to live music from talented local musicians.
