Devon-based wine merchant Wickhams announce autumn events

October is Rioja Wine Month. To celebrate, the Devon-based independent online wine and spirit merchant Wickham's tasting team will explore the range of varieties from this renowned and fascinating Spanish winemaking region. Join them to taste a variety of wines from Joven to Gran Reserva. Learn about the sub-regions (Rioja Alavesa, Rioja Oriental and Rioja Alta) and Vino de Puebla's newest classification. If you think Rioja is all about heavy, oaky red wines, think again!

The wines of Rioja online tasting is this Friday 21st October from 6:30 pm until 8 pm and costs £10 (plus a booking fee). The Winter Wine Discovery takes place on Saturday 19th November from 12 pm - 6 pm at the Mercure Hotel, Exeter Rougemont. The early bird fee is £15.00 + £1.76 booking fee or £30.00 plus £2.93 fee. At this event, discover Wickhams' range of award-winning wines from around the World and get to taste them! Masterclasses will also be hosted by Susy Atkins (telegraph.co.uk, Delicious mag), Pip Vanham AIWS DipWSET, Stephen Barrett (Western Morning News) and others. The Exeter Mercure Hotel is located opposite Central Station, in the very heart of Exeter. It's ideally located should you wish to travel to this event using public transport. Wickhams' tasting events are always fun and informal. You can try lots of wines, meet winemakers and attend masterclasses. Whether you are an amateur with a love of wine or a seasoned professional, there will be something for you.
