Polurrian on the Lizard is hosting a Wedding Fair on Saturday 12th February

Idyllic Cornish wedding venue Polurrian on the Lizard is celebrating after being awarded Silver in the Wedding Venue of the Year category in the Cornwall Tourism Awards 2021/22. The hotel's weddings and events manager, Megan Walsingham was also awarded Bronze in the Unsung Hero category.

The competition, which is now in its 20th year, saw an increased 125 entries. Winners were announced on 3rd February, with the organisers congratulating the resilience of this year's finalists in an ever-challenging environment.

General manager Grant Callaghan tells us, "We pride ourselves on taking a truly personal approach to organise and host weddings here at Polurrian on the Lizard and it's been an absolute pleasure seeing happy couples being able to celebrate their big day once more in such a special location."

He continues, "Particular praise goes to our weddings and events manager, Megan Walsingham who achieved the further accolade of Bronze in the Unsung Hero category for her tireless efforts in making dreams come true."

Megan, who joined the team in April 2021, has made a huge impact on the wedding offering and has received glowing feedback from guests. "I help couples from enquiry right through to the big day, including the planning, meetings and execution," she explains. "It's important to me to have a great relationship with all of my couples and that they know they can come to me with any queries, big or small. I have also worked hard to build great relationships with suppliers, potential clientele and staff within the hotel."

Originally built in 1890, the property was a fashionable railway hotel appealing to distinguished guests. Destroyed by a fire in 1909 and rebuilt, the hotel has hosted glamorous guests from Hollywood's heyday to Strictly Come Dancing stars.
