We catch up over a cuppa with Kimberly Holland from KH Bridal Hair & Make-up based in Falmouth, Cornwall, about eyelash extensions, brow-shaping and tinting.

I'm considering having individual eyelash extensions and a brow shape and tint for my wedding but haven't experienced either before so can you tell me more about the treatments?

Kimberly says: Well-groomed eyebrows and a lovely set of lashes finish your make-up look and make a difference in your wedding photographs. There are a few different methods that beauty therapists use to get brows into shape with a relatively short treatment time. For me, the process starts with a conversation about the shape that clients wish to achieve. I advise not to stray too far from your natural one because then you know it's going to be suitable for your face shape and it'll be easier for you to keep up with between appointments.

Secondly, consider the shade that you would like the tint to be. If you're not used to colouring your brows, I would advise starting with a lighter one because you can always go darker. A tint placed over the brows after a shape fills any gaps and makes them appear more pronounced. This should be carried out a few times before your wedding day so that you can try different colours.

Lash extensions look fabulous if you look after them properly - they'll last throughout your honeymoon too! A fresh set of lashes takes a few hours to apply and the procedure is done with you lying down with your eyes closed. Depending on the type of lashes you choose, your beauty therapist will isolate one of your natural lashes and add one or more extensions to add volume and length. The type that you choose don't have to be overly full or long. Whilst many of my clients love a glamorous, voluminous look, some still like their lashes to remain natural-looking. The lashes are lightweight so you won't feel them and they are semi-permanent and need topping up every two to three weeks. As with your brows, have them applied a couple of times before your big day so that you have the opportunity to try out different styles.

It's also worth bearing in mind that for both brow tints and lash extensions, you'll be required to have a patch test beforehand.
