Rockbeare Manor, Exeter, Devon
The striking façade of the historic house is framed by stately columns and a balcony spanning across the front. There's a grand entrance hall and large windows that flood the venue with natural light.
Ceremonies take place in a variety of elegant rooms. The Dining Room, at almost 250 years old, makes a stunning backdrop and can seat up to 100 guests. It boasts hand-crafted ornamental plasterwork and marble pillars, plus a glittering crystal chandelier and feature fireplace. The Ballroom is an alternative ceremony option for larger gatherings of 100 guests or more and features large contemporary chandeliers, high ceilings and full-length windows overlooking acres of parkland that give the room a luxurious, airy feel. The Outdoor Terrace offers an al fresco option for parties of 50 loved ones and more. Vows are taken under the archway of the South Pavilion against a backdrop of views stretching towards Dartmoor.
The Ballroom has been designed especially to host weddings for between 50 and 160 guests. The natural stone floor, sash windows and Georgian skylights give it an original feel, and its neutral but elegant colour scheme means that any theme will work. The head chef and team at Rockbeare Manor have created a wonderful selection of dishes prepared using the finest free-range and organic produce where possible from local suppliers.
We love... the grand staircase leading to the opulent bridal Drawing Room where the floor-to-ceiling windows open to reveal the balcony – the ideal spot for the bridal bouquet to be thrown. Not forgetting the groom, there's the Billiard Room with an antique billiard table creating a retreat for the groomsmen.
