November/December 2022

Yes, it’s that magical time of the year once again! I don’t know about you but this year has passed by quickly for me, and luckily it has been a wonderful one. We’ve celebrated my mum and dad’s Golden Wedding Anniversary, we’re looking forward to welcoming our Australian relatives to the UK this Christmas and my brother and sister-in-law are having their first baby this December which is the best present ever! I also managed to take a couple of sun-drenched trips this year, including to Oia in Santorini where I stayed at the fabulous Villa Mellow, booked through The Greek Villas and to Athens where I was very spoilt in the rooftop 501 Milos Terrace Suite at boutique hotel xenodocheio Milos. Read all about these wonderful properties, perfect for honeymooners in my Greece is the word review on page 94.

To celebrate the festive period, we’ve compiled a seasonal issue for you to enjoy. There’s everything from stunning summery-themed real weddings and a coastal-styled shoot for couples planning al fresco nuptials next year to snow-capped venues perfect for winter weddings. Don’t miss the latest news, offers, fashion, beauty and honeymoon ideas plus there are handmade ideas for those planning a DIY wedding, and advice about big-day photography and videography.

For those of you getting married soon then I wish you many congratulations and for those not taking the plunge until 2023, I’ll see you next issue.

Happy Christmas!

Elfordleigh Hotel

Steeped in 120 acres of stunning park woodland on the edge of Dartmoor enjoying unspoilt views sits the Elfordleigh hotel which is a hidden gem. It combines the feel of an English country house with the warmth, ease and charm of a privately owned hotel.

The property has three licensed rooms and can also offer outdoor ceremonies on the southerly facing Reynolds Terrace located outside the Reynolds Suite. This elegant Reynolds Suite is suitable for ceremonies for up to 100 guests and wedding breakfasts seating up to 70 loved ones. It boasts a wooden floor and high Edwardian ceilings plus period features and a contemporary colour scheme.

The contemporary Langmead Suite offers a spacious chapel-like feel that can comfortably seat up to 70 guests for a ceremony. The suite adjoins the Elite Suite making it suitable for larger gatherings. Understated and minimal, the Elite Suite can be styled to suit most themes.

The Churchill’s Conservatory is ideal for intimate ceremonies of up to 72 people. This light and airy space offers sunlit seating without being subjected to the elements. Beautifully decorated, it has a drape-lined ceiling and crystal chandelier.

The Elite Suite is the largest function area at the hotel, accommodating up to 200 guests. The spacious room with high ceilings can be dressed with ceiling drapery to create an opulent feel. The suite features a raised stage area for a band or DJ with an adjacent dancefloor. Golf buggies are available to take newlyweds down to the lake for their portrait photographs or against the backdrop of the golf course and surrounding woodland.

Looking for a non-alcoholic alternative this Christmas? The sustainable Devon spring water company is celebrating a bumper summer of sales – and saving nearly 150,000kg of glass from going to landfill. The company, which puts sustainability at the centre of everything it does, has sold 250,000 bottles of water and reused an impressive 201,000. It's the only spring water company in the south of England with a business model focused on reusing glass bottles again and again. Washing and refilling the bottles use just 6% of the energy required to recycle glass, reducing CO2 by 94%. Plus, there's no plastic pollution going into the world's oceans.
