Vegas to Volcanoes

With the UK remaining the number one international market for weddings in Las Vegas and with almost 10,000 travelling to Hawai‘i from Europe (source: State of Hawai‘i DBEDT) for a honeymoon or wedding last year, we're delighted to hear the news that from August 6th 2026, Southwest Airlines will launch a new nonstop, three day a week service between Las Vegas and the beautiful town of Hilo on the Island of Hawai‘i.

The new route will be perfect for couples planning the ultimate wedding and honeymoon combination, creating a seamless journey from the neon lights of the Las Vegas Strip to the fiery glow of Hawai'i's volcanoes. Combining the excitement, glamour and spontaneity of a Las Vegas wedding with the romance, adventure and natural beauty of Hawai'i, couples can now enjoy a trip that truly offers something for all the senses.

Hilo, one of two gateways to the Island of Hawai‘i, is Hawai‘i at its most authentic. On the Island of Hawai'i, black-sand beaches framed by wild Pacific surf, cascading waterfalls hidden in lush rainforest, and dramatic volcanic landscapes feel worlds away from the bright lights of Vegas. It's a destination built for couples who want to reset after the whirlwind of a wedding or honeymoon celebration, where days move slowly, and nature takes centre stage.

As well as Hawai'i's popular beachside hotspots, the Island of Hawai'i offers a more adventurous and varied experience offering newlyweds a chance to connect over an array of once in a lifetime experiences: scenic drives along the Hamakua Coast, swimming with manta rays, and awe-inspiring visits to Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park with intermittently erupting Klauea. It’s the perfect antidote to the excitement of Las Vegas; less spectacle, more soul.

The new non-stop service removes the hassle of onward connections from the US mainland, making it easier for newlyweds and honeymooners to transition directly from celebration to relaxation. And with Southwest’s wider inter-island network, couples can still build in island-hopping, pairing the Island of Hawai‘i’s serenity with O'ahu's energy, Maui’s romance, or Kaua'i's cinematic landscapes.
