Bickleigh Castle, a grand wedding venue in Tiverton, Devon dating back to the turn of the 11th and 12th century, is set to host its next Wedding Fayre on 7th April, 2019, from 11am until 3pm. There will be over 50 of the finest exhibitors from both Devon and Cornwall at the show to meet couples and discuss their wedding requirements and it's a fantastic opportunity to see this wonderful venue styled for a wedding. One of Devon's finest venues set alongside the River Exe with breathtaking views of the rolling countryside, it's home to a chapel dating back to the 6th century and the entire property can be hired on an exclusive-use basis for the big day or, better still, the entire weekend. Everything's located around the central courtyard dotted with luxury thatched cottages accommodating up to 40 guests in 17 rooms all individually decorated. This bed and breakfast accommodation includes a hearty self-service spread using fresh produce grown in the gardens with apples from the orchard. The bridal suite – a charming Tudor room with a four-poster bed – is located inside the castle itself. Historical tours of this privately-owned, family-run estate are available to guests with an on-site museum boasting a collection of historical artefacts. Ceremonies take place both inside and out. The Saxon chapel holds up to 100 guests while the gallery above, home to a 19th-century organ, holds an additional 25 loved ones. Celebrations continue in The Great Hall for up to 70 guests seated for the wedding breakfast and this room is also licensed for ceremonies for up to 120 people. Couples wanting a rustic barn feel to their wedding should opt to hold their celebrations in the Wedding Breakfast Room, accommodating both the civil ceremony and the wedding breakfast. Dancing continues in the bar area just below – the original Victorian stables – where the excellent Bickleigh Castle-branded wine and gin is a must-try. On a summer's evening, guests can mingle in the flower-framed courtyard just outside and a hog roast can be served here. Couples also have the option of a marquee in the grounds for the evening reception. For an extra special touch, they can request whichever flag they wish to fly from the top of the castle for the duration of their day.
