Towns in Devon and Cornwall have been dubbed one of the UK's most relaxing places to visit, according to new research from the team at Delamere Health, Cheshire. Holidaying on home turf is the safest option this summer, with the Government advising against international travel. In fact, travel firms have revealed record-breaking figures for summer staycations, with a 22% surge in spending. To give you a helping hand, researchers at Delamere Health have uncovered which towns across the UK are the most relaxing for a summer staycation.
The study ranked 30 of the most popular UK towns based on the number of relaxing facilities available.The research revealed that Kingsbridge in Devon and Wadebridge located in Cornwall were the fifth and ninth most tranquil towns in the UK (consecutively), with an overall score of 47. North Berwick in Scotland topped the list with an overall index score of 57.
The study ranked a list of popular UK towns based on 10 different factors, to give a final score out of 100. Tranquillity was judged by the number of cafes, spas, population, green space, beaches, walking trails, libraries and museums and towns within the study ranked highly for the least number of nightlife and crime.
