Rick Stein team on the hunt for new recruits in Padstow
The business has seen sales of the Stein's at Home boxes continue to rise week-on-week during lockdown and there are now thousands of boxes delivered each week across the UK.
There are currently 16 different menus to choose from online, including fish, meat and veggie options, as well as seasonal specials and whole fresh fish boxes. From what began as a project to keep the chefs busy, support local suppliers and inject a bit of money throughout lockdown, the Stein's at Home boxes are now one of the best-selling delivery options available in the country.
As the restaurants remain closed until May, the staff who would usually be in the kitchens have instead been put to work on the boxes, keeping the vast majority in employment and off furlough. Despite the business being closed in the most part to the public, only 17% of the Cornish workforce are currently on full furlough, with the rest either in full-time employment still or flexi-furlough.
This is of course great news, however looking forward, the team has no plans to stop or reduce capacity for the hugely popular Stein's at Home boxes. But with restaurants soon to be opening, they are urgently in need of staff to work solely on the delivery box production - both cooking the food to go in them and the packing process. They have just taken on 20 new recruits and are on the hunt for another 30 people.
Positions range from Production Operative to Supervisor and Packaging Assistant. Michael Rabone, Head of Human Resources, said: "We are excited about the opportunities that our new online business will create and look forward to welcoming lots of local new recruits to our team in the coming weeks. If you are interested in a new challenge and are keen to learn, we'd love to hear from you."
