Professional make-up artist Mandy Kaur, owner of Aphrodites Make-up reveals how to decide on a big-day look

Professional make-up artist Mandy Kaur, owner of Aphrodites Make-up reveals how to decide on a big-day look: Image 1 Professional make-up artist Mandy Kaur, owner of Aphrodites Make-up, reveals how to decide on a big-day look.

She says: "Some brides don't realise that not all hairstyles or make-up looks work with every type of dress. For example, if you've chosen a high neck bridal gown then wearing long, flowing hair down does not always look flattering because it shortens your neck. You also need to ensure that you apply the correct style of make-up for your features as well as your dress. For example, if you have strong facial features then you may not want contoured make-up that sculptures the structure of your face, and if you have softer features, we can advise you on how to make your best ones pop, which colours work best, and how to complement your dress."

Mandy advises finding a good make-up artist who engages with you and talks you through the different styling options available. "There's nothing worse than finding your perfect dress but your makeover doesn't work with it, and this is often something that's overlooked," she explains. "It's important to have a thorough bridal experience taking everything into account, from advising on skincare and make-up to the styling of your dress and veil."

Mandy Kaur is the head artist at Aphrodites with more than 11 years' experience. She is fully trained in airbrush make-up and is also a bridal hair stylist.
