I’ve compiled an action-packed issue for you and it promises to be a great read! I love planning a magazine for this time of year, with Halloween and bonfire night inspiration for celebrations. The real wedding of Natalie and Harry caught my eye as soon as bride Natalie got in touch with me because of its quirky Halloween theme and purple colour palette – turn to page 40 to read all about it. If you’d like to see your special day gracing the pages of Your Devon & Cornwall Wedding then please do email me at claire.ridley@countyweddingmagazines.com
There’s fabulous fashion (which is one of my favourite parts of the job, browsing all of the wonderful bridal dresses that land in my inbox), big-day beauty ideas and honeymoon inspiration (now that we’re allowed to travel again, yay!)
So before the build-up to Christmas and New Year, which will be the inspiration behind our next issue, sit back and enjoy the wedding planning journey with me.
Until the next issue,

Beautiful barns and farms |

Deer's Leap Retreat
This family-run countryside venue that specialises in exclusive weekend and overnight weddings is set in a secluded valley on the edge of Exmoor’s national park offering far-reaching views. It’s home to a small herd of Angus and Jersey cows, sock lambs, Blue Maran chickens and ponies and horses including a Dartmoor and Exmoor Pony.
The converted Stone Barn, nestled in the garden, is brimming with character featuring a cartwheel chandelier draped in fairylights suspended from the ceiling, a bar and lounge area with comfy seating, a wood-burning fire and double doors leading to the sun-drenched, south-facing patio overlooking the lake and lakeside gazebo. Outside there are firepits, romantic festoon lighting and large comfy seating options. At night, the lantern-lit lake provides a backdrop for a firework display to each couple’s choice of music.
Deer’s Leap farmhouse is more than 900-years old and combines a timeless ambience revealing low beams and inglenook fireplaces with modern luxuries including twin hot tubs and a sauna. It can sleep up to 21 wedding guests with more people able to stay in the luxury glamping village with tents subsidised for guests. The one-bedroom bridal suite is complimentary for four nights for the wedding weekend.
Ceremonies take place next to the lake inside the hand-built wooden lakeside gazebo with up to 150 guests seated just outside under a stretch canopy. The Stone Barn is also licensed for ceremonies of up to 150 loved ones, and the farmhouse can host a more intimate 50 guests.
The Stone Barn can seat up to 150 guests for the evening reception whereas smaller receptions of between 25 and 50 people can enjoy the farmhouse. Alternatively, guests can indulge in a picnic by the lake seated on ornate rugs or tartan picnic blankets, and the sunsets here are the icing on the cake.
