I have to admit, I’m not a fan of festivals. Having camped only once in my life, I vowed never to do it again! But I do love a festival-style wedding – complete with plush portaloos and a king-size bed booked for me in a nearby luxury hotel to rest my weary dancing feet at the end of the night! In fact, this is my favourite style of wedding, either held in a yurt or tipi with hay bales as seating for guests, a wooden gin bar (serving pink gin, of course!) and a live band entertaining friends and family. This is the reason I love editing this magazine so much, because both Devon and Cornwall are so well equipped for this kind of celebration. Why not create a chill-out area or indoor bar for autumnal and wintery weddings by adding smaller tents to a tipi or marquee? Or, serve a picnic or ice lollies at summer nuptials? This has been the inspiration behind my moodboard of shopping buys this month. Also in this issue, we have fabulous fashion, beauty tips from regional experts including the team at Devon Bridal Hair, romantic real-life weddings, hot honeymoon destinations, venues and plenty more.

Tawstock Court
This newly opened, exclusive-use wedding venue is an 18th-century country house set in 32 acres of pretty grounds and ancient woodland surrounded by the breathtaking North Devon countryside. It boasts period rooms full of character for all aspects of the wedding and there’s on-site accommodation for guests in the form of four dwellings next to the main house providing contemporary en-suite accommodation. There’s also a licensed bar serving local ales, spirits and wines, plus a kitchen team who are happy to work with each couple to create their ideal menu plus discuss the option to use their own choice of caterers.
Civil ceremonies take place in the Tudor Gatehouse and in a choice of halls and drawing rooms. The reception takes place in a selection of lounges and rooms providing ample space and plenty of options. The individual rooms can be themed and there’s plenty of room for live bands and musicians to set up, plus for various activities and games to be enjoyed.
