I’ve compiled an action-packed issue for you and it promises to be a great read! I love planning a magazine for this time of year, with Halloween and bonfire night inspiration for celebrations. Upton Barn & Walled Garden
Award-winning, exclusive-use wedding venue and farm Upton Barn & Walled Garden located in Cullompton, Devon, is set in the heart of the countryside allowing for panoramic views of the Blackdown Hills and surrounding areas. The jewel in the crown is the beautifully restored and maintained walled garden with its neatly manicured lawns, fragrant flower beds and hand-crafted oak arbour, licensed for ceremonies, perched at the end of the lavender-lined aisle. This provides a stunning ceremony backdrop and the ideal spot for al fresco drinks, canapés and garden games. The grounds beyond offer the opportunity to capture picture-perfect photographs by the fountain in the lake, the horses in the paddocks and at sunset.
The venue marries the rustic charm of a Devon farm with a modern finish. Included in the wedding packages are many items that couples don’t need to worry about buying or hiring, such as trestle tables and chairs, a large oak barrel to display the cake, all glassware, a wood-burning stove and logs, two firepits plus outdoor tables, chairs and parasols.
The Cider Barn, with its polished concrete floor and oak trusses, provides a beautiful indoor space for ceremonies and is a great indoor option depending on the weather. The fully glazed gable end allows for uninterrupted views of the Walled Garden and the romantic fairylights decorating it creates a romantic setting.
The Stable Barn is designed with timber panelling, bespoke lighting and a floor-to-ceiling window that floods the room with natural light. It’s best suited to the wedding breakfast and evening reception with a bar at one end.
The Press Bar, with its cosy wood-burning stove, comfortable seating and bar serves a wide selection of artisanal beverages while The Tack Room is a quiet, cosy space and outside there are firepits that guests can use to toast marshmallows over. The venue is accessible for everyone, with gently sloping inclines and step-free access.

Popular Plymouth pub the Golden Hind has appointed a new general manager, Joanne Purchase, who previously worked at the Tamar pub in Plymouth for four years as an assistant manager. Speaking of her appointment, Joanne said: "It has always been a dream of mine to run a pub and I couldn't have wished for a better one. The locals and staff have made me feel so welcome and part of a massive family. I have lived in Plymouth for ten years now and thanks to the people around me I feel so at home." The Golden Hind has recently launched a new menu featuring a range of dishes including small plates, Alabama BBQ bacon burger and katsu curry.
