May/June 2020

I am fortunate enough to travel extensively with my job and for my holidays. When I flew back from Miami in January this year, having enjoyed all the sights that this American hotspot has to offer, if somebody had told me it would be the last flight I would take in a while, I wouldn’t have believed them. Fast forward three months to April and, as I type, travel plans, along with other plans, have been put on hold for us all.

I hope those of you who are having to postpone your weddings and honeymoons are, firstly, staying healthy. Secondly, this time will pass and we will come out the other side so use it as a time to plan your wedding and trip in even more detail. Maybe there’s things you’d like to add to your day (our venue styling and catering ideas in this issue will help) or further information you wanted to research about your chosen destination (our honeymoon features will certainly inspire you).

As well as keeping you up-to-date with all things wedding-related in our summery new issue and online at www.yourdevoncornwall.wedding, I also will be looking on Insta, planning my next holiday to Miami! Until next issue...

The Grain Store

The Grain Store is a new wedding and party venue set in the heart of Devon on the site of a traditional English farm, offering complete privacy, accessed via a tree-lined drive, and boasting sea views across Start Bay. After sitting empty for years, the barn has been lovingly transformed into the perfect wedding location able to host up to 200 guests. It boasts a dancefloor, stylish bar, cartwheel chandeliers, soft up-lighting, silk parachutes strung from the ceiling and fairylights scattered throughout, creating a magical, romantic ambience. Hire of The Grain Store includes exclusive-use from the Friday to the Monday allowing couples time to style it, plus accommodation at the farmhouse, a five-star, seven-bedroom house featuring luxury interiors that sleeps up to fourteen wedding guests.

Ceremonies take place in The Grain Store itself for up to 200 guests seated, or a blessing can be held in the tranquil garden adjoining the farmhouse, that’s bordered by old stone walls and has a south-facing stone terrace with steps leading down into the garden. There’s also the option of a ceremony in the idyllic field located close to the beach, again for up to 200 loved ones.

Receptions can take place in a marquee here in this field, with the capacity varying, depending on the choice of the marquee. Alternatively, The Grain Store can also be used for a reception for up to 200 loved ones.
