With June upon us, it’s time to look ahead to the holiday season. I’m looking forward to some fabulous trips this summer, including to Sardinia and Nashville, which have always been at the top of my travel wish list! If you’re considering booking the honeymoon of a lifetime, then turn to page 80 for some inspiration.

Avalen Farm Country Weddings
This stunning venue oozes rustic elegance throughout. Nestled within 100 acres of picturesque farmland, couples and their guests will discover a traditional courtyard of barns, beautifully restored to offer a distinctive Cornish wedding venue. The team offer fully licensed ceremonies, both indoors and outdoors, allowing the freedom to decorate each space how the couple wish.
The grounds at Avalen have been carefully designed to accommodate the local wildlife. The wild meadow provides a stunning backdrop for newlyweds. In keeping with a Celtic tradition, couples are invited to plant a tree symbolizing good fortune and a lasting marriage. This meaningful gesture can be included in the wedding plans or couples can choose to do it the following day.
Ceremonies take place in The Ceremony Room, which was the old milking parlour, for up to 120 guests. Outdoor ceremonies can be enjoyed under the grand old sycamore tree that provides an archway with a beautiful view over the meadow and across to Helman Tor, home to Cornwall’s largest-ever nature recovery scheme.
The dining barn at the venue accommodates up to 120 guests for a reception and functions wonderfully as a banquet hall. Restored from an old farm shed, the interior is inviting and offers stunning views of the surrounding grounds. Outside, there’s an ancient apple orchard plus a large meadow. Couples getting married at the venue are offered a two-night stay in the Cart House, a beautifully restored space, once a traditional horse and cart grain shed, providing the ideal location to kick off the celebrations.
