November/December 2021

I love this time of year, not only because I’m a magpie who loves anything that sparkles, but because it’s an opportunity for me to create a magazine full of seasonal splendour! This year, I think we’re all looking forward to a special festive period of being reunited with loved ones to eat, drink and be merry now that all restrictions have been lifted. Whether you’re putting the finishing touches to a winter wedding or planning a larger affair for next year, it’s always fun for me to compile our end-of-year issue. I asked some of my favourite wedding photographers in both regions to send me their treasured Christmas wedding images which are revealed on page 53. I have also rounded up a selection of some of the best snow-capped venues in both regions that can be seen on page 19.

There’s also bridal jewellery and accessories, dream dresses, big-day beauty and hot honeymoon destinations, along with much more, so I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did creating it, and I’ll see you next year.

Until then...

Two Bridges Hotel

This country house hotel located on the banks of the West Dart River is a former coaching inn. The informal yet stunning gardens that surround the property merge into the open moorland beyond, with panoramic countryside views creating a picture-perfect backdrop for photographs.

The interior oozes character and style with antiques, crackling log fires and romantic candlelit areas. The individually styled bedrooms range from those with a traditional country feel to indulgent ones with four-poster beds and spa baths.

The light-filled Fountain Room is the main function suite with French doors opening on to the gardens, while The Tors Restaurant is another cosy option filled with antiques and fine artwork. There’s also The Riverside Pagoda available for outdoor ceremonies.

Ring in the new year with a festive getaway to Fowey Harbour

Ring in the new year with a festive getaway to Fowey Harbour

Celebrate the New Year with a festive getaway to the coastal 37-room Fowey Harbour hotel which overlooks the scenic Fowey estuary in the heart of the historic Cornish harbour town. Located on the west bank of the River Fowey, the Victorian hotel, with panoramic views of the town of Polruan, the Fowey river and out to sea, is the perfect place to ring in 2022. Start the celebrations with a Camel Valley sparkling wine reception at the bar before sitting down to a four-course dinner and live music entertainment from Jazz duo The Drat Pack. The extravagant New Year's Eve menu includes smoked venison, fig & pickled walnut tart, smoked salmon ballotine with quail's egg and caviar dressing, duck breast served with savoy, dauphinoise potatoes and blood orange sauce as well as a chocolate orange mousse and a spiced pear cheesecake for dessert. When midnight strikes, guests can huddle on the hotel's outside terrace, the best spot to watch the fireworks lighting up the Fowey Estuary.
