I must admit that I’m not a fan of winter. I was born to live in a hot climate! But there’s something about this time of year that I find magical and it’s the build up to Christmas. Not only do I love lighting scented candles in my home and switching on the fairylights as soon as it gets dark, but I like pottering around the shops finding presents for loved ones and cute decorations for my flat.
It’s the same for seasonal weddings. Autumnal nuptials are blessed with darker evenings that feel so romantic dotted with festoon lighting, while cosy venues with open fires and wood burners are a great choice at this time of year adorned with sparkly red, silver and gold decorations. Winter weddings gather guests together, toasting marshmallows and spelling out your newly married initials with mini sparklers wrapped up against the cold in the cutest faux fur stoles and accessories. So it’s these small seasonal wonders that I’ll be enjoying this year in order to get me through the colder months, and it’s a Christmas theme that has inspired my moodboard of shopping buys in this issue. Oh, and for that little bit of summer sun, I will just have to turn to our honeymoon section on page 93!

| A Winters Tale |

Holne Park House
This manor house sits in 90 acres of woodland and lakes surrounding the Dartmoor National Park. It has just won an award for its outstanding customer service. Ceremonies take place in a choice of areas that include the grand ballroom holding up to 90 guests and the outdoor wedding pavilion hosting up to 50 loved ones. There’s also the Music Room, Ashburton Room and the Inkwell Room for medium-sized celebrations and the Dawson Room for intimate nuptials.
Receptions take place in the ballroom and there’s a tea garden that can be illuminated in the evening for a magical open-air event in all seasons.
